History of Charisma

Lauren Williams founded charisma dance team, in January 2004 consisting of only five dancers.

What we stand for:

  1. Magnetic Personality- the ability to inspire enthusiasm, interest, or affection in others by means of personal charm or influence.
  2. Divine Gift- Christianity a gift or power believed to be divinely bestowed.

-Why we started:

The reason behind why this wonderful team was created was because we all love to dance.  Charisma is our own entity.  We are not in No Way competing with other dance teams on campus.  Our founder felt that there wasn’t an equal representation of the different genres of dance on our campus.  When Charisma was created we wanted to have not just another dance team but a family, our adviser felt that all the members would have an equal opportunity to bring something positive to the organization. We all love and mentor one another like sisters, and that is what makes us different from any other team on campus.

Charisma:  This stands for meaning full of life, energetic, expressive through the art of rhythm and body movement.

Our Purpose:  An organization created by students, in order to help other dancers reach their full potential through the expression pf dance.  We are focused on academics, and the well being of our Community (hence community service).  Our style of dancing consists of mostly Hip- hop, but incorporated jazz and modern dance.
